Ahoy, mateys! 🏴‍☠️ It's Fleur here and I'm excited to give you a behind-the-scenes peek at the design, build, and styling of the mini pirate ship set I created for the soon-to-be-released ‘Ships Ahoy!' Babywear Collection.

Big apparel businesses often have the luxury of big budgets and big teams. At Fleur Harris, we’re still relatively small, but we embrace this and find that our need to do more with less creates an environment of beautifully wild creativity and resourcefulness! Our campaign images prove that imagination and passion can create incredible magic - without a huge budget. We love thinking outside the box and having a ton of fun along the way!

The pièce de résistance - the ship's mast, was built from scratch. I used timber offcuts, a staircase balustrade, and decorative timber from a broken antique mantle for the base. After staining it a custom colour, I added gathered lengths of calico and cheesecloth to create faux sails.

I hand-sewed a long length of bunting and draped it across the sails for a festive atmosphere (no mean pirates here!). A little painted basket became the crow's nest… the perfect finishing touch.

The set came alive when our baby pirates stepped into it, wearing their adorable ‘Ships Ahoy!’ outfits. Every day is truly a joy at Fleur Harris HQ. We love making magic behind the scenes to bring wonder and enchantment to your little one's world.
